How to fix black screen when streaming Chrome on Source-Live Pro LL

  • Error Message Repository
  • How-To Articles

When opening Source-Live Pro: Low Latency, some Windows users are seeing a black screen when attempting to stream a Google Chrome screen. If you are facing the following error, follow the steps below:

  1. Close the "Window Capture" menu in Source-Live.
  2. Open a new Chrome tab and type in chrome://settings
  3. Go to Advanced > System.
  4. Slide the toggle to disable “Use hardware acceleration when available”:
  5. Click “Relaunch”.
  6. Re-open the "Capture Window" menu.

The application will now display the content correctly.

Depending on your graphics card, turning off hardware acceleration might cause screen tearing on Google Chrome. Depending on your card, go to Settings > Graphic Settings and try window sharing with hardware acceleration. We recommend going through the documentation for your specific graphic card.
