Avid Conflict on Launching Other Audio Apps
Apply this guide if you launch software such as Source-Connect and Source-Live, and it gets stuck at the Splash screen. Avid lately sets it's own hardware as the default System Preferences however it does not share it's hardware, so if you have Pro Tools open and another audio app wishes to use the default System Preferences audio setting you will get an error.
- Quit Pro Tools and Force-Quit Source-Connect if needed.
- Open System Audio Preferences. Your default Input and Output is probably your Avid or Pro Tools HD hardware. This is not necessary for Pro Tools to run and you should change it to any Analog input and output.
- Launch Source-Connect. Check under the Settings (Pro or Source-Live 3.0) and make sure it is not trying to use your Avid hardware.
- Now open Pro Tools. If it complains that it cannot find your Avid hardware, relaunch with the 'N' key pressed down during the entire launch period and it will now ask you to choose it's HD hardware again.
This should not in any way affect Pro Tools use.
