Source-Connect: Satellite Connections

Satellite connections are not supported in any capacity by Source Elements technical support due the following reasons:

• Satellite connections have extremely high latency, particularly the upstream. This latency makes it difficult to have a real-time conversation. Satellite uplinks are often too slow in comparison. 
• Satellite providers may change your IP address at any time. Satellite providers may not provide your actual IP address to you, but use 'caching'. It is common that port forwarding is not available, as you are not given a 'public IP address'.
• Source-Connect sends UDP traffic to and from the public IP address that your connection is using. If your provider is using DNS caching, or you are behind 'NAT' then Source-Connect will not be able to negotiate a connection. Further, due to the high latency, the connection may drop or be unstable.

Due to these difficulties we regret that we offer no technical support for satellite connections.
