How to use Source-Live with the Source-Nexus Gateway
This article is part of the Source-Nexus Gateway User Guide
The Source-Live Gateway is now the Source-Nexus Gateway. This means you have full access to the Source-Nexus Gateway as well as the familiar features of the Source-Live Low latency video broadcast viewer and application.
What does this mean for me?
- You will still use the Source-Live broadcast desktop application to send your video and audio streams to the client viewer.
- The first time you use the Source-Nexus Gateway, you will be asked to set a passkey. However, it will be overwritten by the Source-Live desktop application the next time you start broadcasting.
- You can use the Source-Nexus Gateway high-quality screen-sharing feature.
- You can use the Source-Nexus Gateway high-quality audio broadcast feature.
What does this mean for my clients?
- Your clients will go to https://nexus.source-elements.com/<username> to listen to your broadcast.
- Your clients will receive the HD audio stream should you choose to use this separate feature.
Using the Source-Nexus Gateway with Source-Live
In order to start a new broadcasting session:
- Open the Source-Live application on your Mac or your Windows computer.
- Select a Source for your broadcast (image only, input devices, windows, screens or NDI sources).
- Make sure you adjust your audio settings in the SETTINGS panel.
- Test out your stream before sending out your broadcast link to your clients. You can do this by following the steps below:
- Go to https://nexus.source-elements.com/<username> web browser tab.
- Enter your username and click “Join Session”.
- Toggle the “Enable host login”. This is important so you do not spend your Source-Live hours on this test.
- As a host, you will not see your video stream. If you wish to see the video stream, do not toggle the host login.
- Enter your name and host password (this is your Source Elements account password, not your passkey).
- Click “Join Session”.
- Select your I/O and camera and click “OK” when you are ready.
- Verify your audio and/or video are coming in as expected.
If you wish to update your passkey before or during your broadcast, you can click the Settings/gears icon next to “Leave Video Chat” and click “Change Passkey”. However, please note that any users who have already joined will be asked to sign in again.
