Source Elements Support: QManager
For a comprehensive guide to using and installing the QManager, please refer to the comprehensive Source-Connect User Guides:
About the QManager
The QManager is a tool with which any recorded files which contain drops due to network loss are repaired and also allows you to 'Replace' recorded files with the original PCM audio.
The QManager only needs to be launched and in status "ONLINE" in order to operate. When you are using a Source-Connect Pro, that has control over the QManager session, you also need to set your recorded Audio Files folder in the session folder.
I can't restore or replace
Please follow this detailed checklist to verify your Q settings. You will need to verify the following:
- QManager Setup
- Source-Connect Setup
- Pro Tools / DAW Setup
1. QManager Setup
- Set your login and password
- Choose your Session folder
- Validate your FTP details (using the Manual Login Mode and Edit function if necessary)
- Verify the QManager status is 'ON'
2. Source-Connect Setup
- Verify that when you establish a connection over Source-Connect you have the 'Q' icon without a red slash crossing it in the corresponding level meters. The QManager must be in "ONLINE" status for this to happen. Only Source-Connect Pro users can 'receive' Q. If you are on Source-Connect Standard you will not see a Q icon on your receiving meter.
- If you see a Q icon with a red slash, it means that you or the other side does not have the QManager either running or configured properly.
- Other possible reasons for Q being disabled: Samplerate converting: Both ends of the connection need to be running in the same samplerate. Otherwise Q functionality will not be available. Stereo to mono converting: Both sides must both be in stereo or mono
- Enabling Restore and Replace per session: Source-Connect Pro users can enable and disable Restore and Replace in the Settings panel. The Restore and/or Replace option must be checked or these operations will be disabled for your session.
3. Pro Tools / DAW Setup
Verify that you are recording into the same folder as set in the QManager 'Session folder'.
Verify that you are recording the direct signal from Source-Connect, with no signal alterations or effects. You must not:
- Change the volume on the Source-Connect or record track. The volume must be set to 0db.
- Process the signal through another plug-in between Source-Connect and the record path. Source-Talkback is the only plug-in certified for use in such cases. All other plug-ins or processes will destroy any Restore or Replace information in the recorded audio file.
- Send the Source-Connect signal through multiple auxillary paths before reaching the record trackq .
Still getting failed Restore/Replace?
Try creating a brand new session in Pro Tools. Do not import any tracks - just create a mono aux and audio track, to record into. Set your new Audio Files folder in the QManager and run another test.
