Source-Connect Network Requirements
This article contains the minimum and recommended network requirements
See the Network Guide for firewall configuration details.
Minimum Network Requirements
The following is the default on most networks:
- Minimum bandwidth of 300kbps upload and download
- Non-firewalled UDP ports 6000-6001 (configurable for Pro)
- Non-firewalled outbound TCP ports 80 and 5222
This is the default that Source-Connect will require if no other program, or any other person, has any effect on the bandwidth, and there is no interference. Network requirements will also change, for example, depending on the bitrate that is being sent (the higher the bitrate, the higher the network requirement).
Recommended Network Requirements
- Minimum bandwidth of 10mbps upload. If there are other internet users in the household/studio, we recommend at least 10mbps of upload for each person using the network.
- A wired connection (non-wireless) - ADSL, VSDL or fibre, that is not a satellite connection (these connections have too high of a ping).
- Non-firewalled UDP ports 6000-6001 (configurable for Pro)
- Non-firewalled outbound TCP ports 80 and 5222
Bandwidth Tests:

Corporate networks:
If you are on a corporate network or behind multiple routers/firewalls it is possible that you will not be able to establish an initial connection with Source-Connect. Please review the Network Guide.
Wireless networks:
Wireless networks are not as reliable as fixed connections via ethernet. While modern Wireless networks can be sufficient, we do not officially support Wireless networks in cases of network dropouts. Please bear this in mind if you have support issues.
