Error 208: Stream or port settings mismatch
Error 208: Stream or port settings mismatch
Source-Connect 4 | All versions | All operating systems
Description
When users attempt to connect on Source-Connect 4, they get an error message saying there is a stream or port settings mismatch.
Reason
This can be cuased by:
- Blocking Source-Stream. Source-Connect 4 Facility users have the option to block Source-Stream connections. If Source-Connect 4 Talent or Studio/Facility users are forcing Source-Stream, they will not be able to connect with a Source-Connect 4 Facility user who has blocked the feature.
- Incorrect port forwarding settings. If one of the connecting users has set their network settings to use a specific network device or port range and the setup has not been tested (or is incorrect), the user will not be able to connect to other users or receive calls on Source-Connect 4.
Actions
In order to resolve this issue, you will need to identify what might be causing the problem (Source-Stream or port settings).
1. Check Source-Stream Settings
If you suspect Source-Stream blocking is causing the issue:
- For Source-Connect 4 Facility users: Check your settings to see if Source-Stream connections are blocked. If so, either unblock Source-Stream or ask the other user to disable Force Source-Stream in their settings.
- For Source-Connect 4 Talent/Studio users: If you have Force Source-Stream enabled in your settings, try disabling it and attempt to connect again using regular Source-Connect 4 mode.
- Communication: Coordinate with the other user to ensure both parties are using compatible connection modes (either both allowing Source-Stream or both using standard Source-Connect 4).
2. Verify Port Forwarding and Network Settings
If you suspect network configuration issues:
- Reset to automatic settings: In your Source-Connect 4 network settings, try switching back to "Automatic" for network device selection instead of using a specific network device.
- Test port range settings: If you have custom port ranges configured:
- Try using the default port range (remove any custom port restrictions)
- If you must use custom ports, ensure they are properly forwarded on your router and not blocked by your firewall
- Check firewall settings: Ensure Source-Connect 4 is allowed through your computer's firewall and any network firewalls.
- Router configuration: If using port forwarding, verify that the ports are correctly forwarded to your computer's local IP address.
- Test with another user: Try connecting with a different user to determine if the issue is specific to one connection or affects all connections.
3. Network Troubleshooting Steps
- Restart your network connection: Disconnect and reconnect your internet connection.
- Try a different network: If possible, test from a different internet connection (mobile hotspot, different location) to isolate network-specific issues.
- Update Source-Connect 4: Ensure both users are running the latest version of Source-Connect 4.
If the issue persists after trying these steps, contact the Source Elements support team with details about your network configuration and the specific error circumstances.
