How to Set Up Source-Nexus with Twisted Wave for Live Recording Sessions with Remote Clients
Note: This configuration is designed for macOS only. If you are on Windows or using a different audio interface, some routing steps may differ.
This article explains how to use the Source-Nexus Suite alongside Twisted Wave to host clients in a web meeting room, record yourself locally, and share live audio and playback with your clients simultaneously.
Overview
This setup allows you to:
- Record yourself in Twisted Wave while sending your live microphone to connected clients
- Play back audio from Twisted Wave so clients can hear it in real time
- Monitor yourself through your audio interface (not through Twisted Wave) to avoid latency
The key components are: Source-Nexus Review (standalone app), Source-Nexus Gateway (browser-based), and Twisted Wave.
Step-by-Step Setup
- Open the standalone Source-Nexus Review application on your Mac.
- Set the Output of Source-Nexus Review to your headphones.
- Set the Input of Source-Nexus Review to Source-Nexus A.
- Set the Output of Twisted Wave to Source-Nexus A.
- In Source-Nexus Review, select your microphone as the talkback mic and click the talkback button so it latches open. Do not monitor yourself through Twisted Wave — use your audio interface's direct monitoring instead to keep latency low.
- In Chrome, go to https://nexus.source-elements.com/ and log in using your Source Elements account. When prompted, select a client passkey. The default settings are correct for this workflow: Mic To Source-Nexus Chat, Speakers From Chat, and Broadcast Input To Source-Nexus Broadcast.
- Once inside the Gateway, click "Start Broadcast" (top right). This allows your clients to hear playback from Twisted Wave.
- Use the Invite button (bottom left) to send clients a link to your Source-Nexus Gateway room. The invite link follows this format:
https://nexus.source-elements.com/<your-username>— share it along with the passkey.
Notes
- Clients join via browser — no software installation is required on their end.
